Jonathan Franklin
Jonathan Franklin spent much of his youth in Asia where his father worked as a civil engineer. After receiving a BFA from the University of Michigan, he moved to Israel where he began painting. Jonathan lives and works in Oak Park, where he paints and teaches and is also a member of Open Door Repertory Company.
Gallery Romain Jonathon Romain
Displayed in the foods room at the Stevenson Center were two of Jonathon's oil on canvas paintings--Sign of the Times and My Brother's Keeper. Jonathon says his skills as an artist and painter are not innate but, rather, were born and developed through “the pain and subjugation of prison, brought on by the copulation of mis-education and economic deprivation.” He believes that “it was only through my persistence in pursuing an education and my unyielding belief that God had a specific purpose for me that I was able to break the perennial chains of degradation.” His work has been presented in dozens of art shows and more than 30 major exhibitions in California, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, and New York, to name a few states.
