Dialogues In Democracy |
Comprehensive program of conferences, forums, and other forms of discourse. It addresses ways of capitalizing on the best ideas from the prevailing ferment about the future, ideas generated through Foundation-conducted surveys and research. The program is part of the evolving community history of dialogue, dissent, protest, debate, civil discourse. That history reveals a typically messy yet rich tradition of civic engagement and civic leadership in moving things toward greater equity and community involvement. Dialogues in Democracy extends the reach of where past and present leaders and pioneers were and are going. Always the goal of open discourse is to build relationships of trust. The Foundation's work in civic service not only honors the pluralistic ways the citizenry genuinely engages important quality-of-life issues, but also honors how collective efforts to generate solutions to problems have enabled program participants to go to the next level of civil discourse. Many many thanks to any and all of the participants in the Dialogues in Democracy program. Your contributions have enabled the development and dissemination of more and better forms of civil discourse and open debate. |
